Turok: Next Generation
An overhaul pack aimed to enhance the game as much as possible while still being faithful to the original Turok you know and love.
This is my contribution to the awesome Turok community, it’s a culmination of all my work so far. I’m having a lot of fun and hope to introduce more in the future.
Current list of changes:
- -All textures, sprites, and HUD elements have been enhanced using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning techniques.
- -Restyled Logo for the main menu, somewhat inspired by the original N64 logo.
- -Completely new sky textures.
- -Replaced loading screen with an HD version of the same art.
- -Fonts have been cleaned up, new green font for the console.
- -Larger, green mouse cursor.
- -New green crosshair that is visible on every surface.
- -Some minor translation issues fixed. Found German in the Italian translation for some reason.
- -No time trial/tutorial text. Sounds still play though. I assume most people don’t need tutorial text, and it blocks your view.
- -Simplified and clarified menu and game text.
- -Removed text spam for basic pickups. (i.e. 2 HEALTH 2 HEALTH 2 HEALTH 2 HEALTH)
- -Reworked the vanilla sounds for hopefully slightly better quality.
- -Absolutely nothing that manages core gameplay has been touched!

Mod List
HD Texture Pack
All 2,488 textures enhanced using Machine Learning techniques, the result is remarkably faithful to the original art style. As A.I. modeling improves, so too will this texture pack. Comparison Gallery
Main Menu Logo
A new Logo for the main menu, somewhat inspired by the original N64 logo. Prefer the default Turok logo? Totally understandable, that’s why TurokNG’s logo is completely optional.
Detailed Skies
Looking for a nice looking cloudy skies for your murderous rampage? You got it.
HD Loading Screen
Loading in style? We got you covered. Replaced the loading screen with new, high resolution artwork.
Font Tweaks
A series of small tweaks to some of the fonts, plus a new green font for the console.
Wireframe Cursor
Just a cursor, but sometimes it’s the small things in life that make the biggest difference.
High-Vis Crosshair
This crosshair probably won’t improve your aim, but it can’t hurt!
Localization Tweaks
Removed tutorial text for time trial, removed text notification spam for basic pickups, fixed some obvious errors in the translations, and hopefully increased overall clarity in the menus.
HD HUD
Small modifications and upscaling to all HUD elements.
Enhanced Sprites
All sprites enhanced with Machine Learning, some minor clipping issues fixed with the fire sprite animation.
Enhanced Sounds
Updated all 221 sounds in the game. Remove DC offset, fix clipping, compression, and a few other tweaks. Some sounds may be slightly quieter than the default sounds. Example Before & After
Extra Mods
Alternative Logo
An alternative logo for the Main Menu made from scratch in Inkscape. You can use this instead of the standard TurokNG Logo, or combine it with any other mods of your choosing.
Turok+ Compatibility Helper
A helper that should improve your experience when using TurokNG and Turok+ together. If you notice any issues that aren’t fixed by this patch, please let me know.
Accessibility Crosshair and Cursor
Crosshair & Cursor design can often be a key part of an aesthetic, but can also result in visibility or contrast issues, with a cursor that is fine for some people being too small or feint for others to be able to see easily, or in colours that do not work with some forms of colour blindness. Offering a choice of alternative colours and designs alleviates this, allowing larger size and better contrast for those who need it while still allowing a default that fits in perfectly with the desired art direction.
